North East Trust For Aphasia

Welcome to The North East Trust for Aphasia (NETA). NETA is a registered Charity as set up by people with aphasia and their families.

The seeds for NETA began with the funding by the Tavistock Trust for Aphasia of the North East Aphasia Centre, part of the Speech and Language Sciences programme at Newcastle University. The North East Aphasia Centre, which is a collaboration between the University and the local speech and language therapy community, provides opportunities for people with aphasia to obtain intensive speech and language therapy while, at the same time, training future professionals in working with people who have aphasia.

As a result of the new networks that grew out of the North East Aphasia Centre, and the need for ongoing services for people with aphasia, a separate charitable trust was formed - The North East Trust for Aphasia (NETA). NETA's main purpose is to assist people with Aphasia with information and therapy support and is funding and managing the NETA Aphasia Support Centre.
